Youth Organizer Assistant

Overview

Para Los Niños, a local non-profit organization with a mission to empower and engage Latino families to transform communities and create more opportunities for academic and life success for every Latino student, seeks a qualified bilingual Youth Coordinator to lead the After School Program in High School aged classrooms and promote school success for Latino children.

The Youth Coordinator Assistant and the Youth Coordinator works with High School Aged children and provides academic support for students from 9th to 12th grade.

Students receive individualized help with homework, as well as supplemental activities to boost math and reading skills.

Exploration of pathways for higher education or other alternatives for life success is also offered to students.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Help Youth Coordinator, provide a safe and enriching learning environment for 10 to 25 students grades 9 to 12 – develop, teach, and facilitate lessons.
  • Work with the Youth Organizer in zoom sessions and in-person activities.
  • Connect and communicate with parents, caregivers, and families.
  • Other admin-related duties: class reports, attendance tracking, reading tracking, book logs, attendance to staff meetings, etc.

Qualifications:

  • Bilingual and bicultural Spanish-English required.
  • High School age teaching experience or equivalent experience.
  • First Aid and CPR certification before beginning to teach.
  • Valid WA State Driver’s License.
  • Familiar with Microsoft Office programs including Excel, and Word.
  • Ability to develop meaningful relationships with youth and their parents/caregivers.
  • Be flexible, self-motivated, able to work well in a team environment as well as independently, and have great communication skills.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date files and documentation databases for complete and timely reporting.
  • Attend staff meetings and training.
  • Support the youth organizer and groups to reach their academic goals.

Position Details:

  • Start date: Open until filled.
  • Position/Classification: Full Time Hourly paid.
  • Hours: 40 hours weekly
  • Compensation: $20 – $25 based on experience and skills.

Time Commitment:

  • Weekly schedule varies.
  • Willingness to adjust hours to accommodate the needs of the job.
  • Must be available some nights.
  • Must be available for special events and training.

The Environmental Justice Community Coordinator will support Para Los Niños’ growing environmental education and advocacy work.

This position will engage Latin American immigrant families in South King County to identify local environmental justice concerns, participate in community-driven projects, and build leadership to advance healthier, more sustainable neighborhoods.

This role is part of Para Los Niños’ broader commitment to environmental justice and community well-being, aligning with the EPA’s Thriving Communities framework to ensure families have access to clean air, water, and safe community spaces.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Build trust and relationships with PLN families and community members through outreach, workshops, and home visits related to environmental health (air, water, soil, housing, and safety). 
  • Coordinate environmental justice education sessions for parents and youth, covering topics such as lead awareness, soil safety, recycling, and climate resilience.
  • Support families in identifying local environmental concerns and help design small-scale assessment or clean-up projects.
  • Conduct community surveys, interviews, and focus groups to document environmental health challenges.
  • Collaborate with local partners (Public Health – Seattle & King County, Dirt Alert, community-based organizations) to connect families with available programs and resources.
  • Assist in developing and implementing community-based projects under the Thriving Communities or similar funding opportunities.
  • Track data, participation, and outcomes for grant reporting while maintaining strict confidentiality.
  • Represent PLN in environmental justice networks, coalitions, and planning efforts in South King County.
  • Support special events, fundraising, and communication efforts related to PLN’s environmental programs.
  • Communicate regularly with the Program Manager about progress, challenges, and community needs.

 

Qualifications:

  • Minimum of 3–5 years of experience in community outreach, environmental justice, public health, or related work.
  • 100% bilingual in English and Spanish (reading, writing, and speaking).
  • Bachelor’s degree preferred; equivalent experience considered.
  • Experience working with diverse BIPOC communities, particularly Latin American families.
  • Knowledge of environmental justice, health equity, or sustainability issues a plus.
  • Strong facilitation and communication skills, with comfort leading community meetings.
  • Collaborative, proactive, and committed to community empowerment.
  • Proficient in Google Workspace and Microsoft Office. 
  • Ability to lift to 50 lbs and assist in event setup. 

 

Time Commitment:

  • Monday–Friday schedule; flexibility required for evenings or weekends.
  • Must be available for community events, environmental clean-ups, and workshops.

Play & Learn Coordinator / AJ Class Facilitator

The Early Learning Specialist supports Para Los Niños de Highline’s Early Learning and Family Engagement programs, serving children ages 2–5 and their families. This position focuses on culturally responsive early childhood education, parent engagement, and developmental support rooted in community strengths.

The Specialist works collaboratively with the Program Manager and team to implement high-quality programming aligned with organizational priorities and capacity.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

 

Early Learning Programming 

  • Plan and facilitate developmentally appropriate learning activities for children ages 2–5 and their caregivers.
  • Lead Play & Learn groups mornings 4 days a week
  • Support implementation of First Relationships and other family-centered curricula.
  • Conduct child observations using approved developmental screening tools.
  • Provide culturally relevant guidance and educational resources to families.
  • Create a welcoming, safe, and inclusive learning environment.

Aprendamos Juntos Class 

  • Lead & Facilitate elementary students  twice a week from 5:30 to 8:30 PM in the AJ program
  • Practice 4 main components in our Programs

(1) Identity and pride, 

(2) Art and fun activities

(3) Social-emotional approach

(4) Practice and learn academic milestones 

  • Organize the materials for the development of the activities according to program planning. 
  • Provide a safe and enriching learning environment 
  • Logistics of the program

 

Family Engagement & Support

  • Build meaningful, strengths-based relationships with parents and caregivers.
  • Provide information and referrals to community resources as appropriate.
  • Support families in navigating early learning systems.
  • Maintain respectful communication with families of diverse cultural and socioeconomic backgrounds.
  • Experience working with diverse BIPOC communities, particularly Latin American families.
  • Maintain confidentiality of all participant information (FERPA & HIPAA)

 

Program Administration & Documentation

  • Maintain accurate attendance, lesson plans, reports, and required documentation.
  • Assist with data collection and surveys in alignment with funder requirements.
  • Track program participation and submit reports within established timelines.
  • Use basic technology platforms (Google Workspace, data systems, etc.).

Administrative responsibilities will remain aligned with early learning program needs and organizational capacity.

 

Team Participation

  • Participate in scheduled staff meetings, site meetings, and professional development.
  • Collaborate with colleagues to improve program quality.
  • Support volunteers and staff as needed.
  • Provide feedback to supervisors regarding program needs and workload.
  • Evening and weekend participation may be required for specific scheduled events, with advance notice whenever possible.

 

Required Knowledge & Skills

  • Knowledge of early childhood development (birth–5 years).
  • Understanding of culturally responsive family engagement practices.
  • Ability to manage group facilitation and classroom environments.
  • Strong communication skills in both English and Spanish (bilingual required).
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines.
  • Basic proficiency in Google Workspace and data entry systems.
  • The ability to lift 25/50/80 pounds 

 

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Early Childhood Education, Psychology, Social Services, or related field (preferred). Equivalent experience considered.
  • 3–5 years of experience in early childhood or family services.
  • Experience working with Latin American families and immigrant communities.
  • Valid driver’s license.

 

Schedule

  • Monday–Friday, standard daytime hours.
  • Occasional evenings or weekends for scheduled events.
  • Schedule adjustments will be communicated in advance and coordinated with the supervisor.
