More than 100 children participated in Para Los Niños de Highline’s 2026 Summer Program, enjoying four weeks filled with learning, creativity, and unforgettable experiences.
Dance, music, art, field trips, and outdoor activities were all part of a thoughtfully designed program that encouraged skill development, strengthened social connections, and provided every participant with a joyful and enriching summer.
Our program welcomed children and youth from a variety of Latin American cultures, with family roots in Peru, Colombia, Mexico, El Salvador, Guatemala, Honduras, Ecuador, and many other countries represented in our diverse community. Day after day, families placed their trust in our program, giving their children the opportunity to experience activities that promoted teamwork, creativity, physical activity, and the development of new friendships.
As part of the program’s closing celebration, families attended a special performance prepared by the students, showcasing some of the skills and activities they explored throughout the summer. The event featured the traditional Colombian dance “La Pollera Colorá,” directed by Colombian instructor Marcela Rosero, as well as a musical performance by tenor José Iñíguez, a respected educator, musician, and founder of Encanto Arts, who joined the students in performing the song “El Sembrador.”
The celebration concluded with the distribution of backpacks and school supplies to every student, generously donated by the King County Library System, helping ensure they begin the new school year prepared and excited for the journey ahead.
Another highlight of the summer was Para Los Niños’ LYP Youth Camp, which provided young participants with opportunities to engage in recreational, educational, and cultural experiences. Throughout the camp, youth enjoyed outdoor sports, field trips to the aquarium, SkyKart races, and creative activities such as creating a collaborative painting and making traditional piñatas. They also participated in activities like Shark Tank, which encouraged creativity, leadership, and self-expression. These experiences helped youth build connections, strengthen relationships, and enjoy a summer filled with learning, fun, and cultural exploration.

Together, you helped make the 2026 Summer Program a place where children could learn, grow, and create lasting memories.
