With great excitement, Para Los Niños announces a new project featuring seven distinguished local artists who will transform the exterior panels of our office building into a vibrant outdoor art gallery.
The participating artists are Allina Hackin, Blanca Santander, Carlos Martínez, Fulgencio Lazo, José Orantes, René Julio Díaz, and Thania C. Guerra. Through their artwork, they will bring experience, creativity, color, and cultural heritage to pieces that can be enjoyed by both visitors and passersby along Sixth Avenue in the City of Burien.
This project is made possible through the generous support of 4Culture, which awarded Para Los Niños de Highline the 2026 Public Free Access grant for the development of our community murals. We are grateful to 4Culture and our community for helping ensure that art remains free, accessible, and inclusive for everyone.
This initiative will complement the four cultural murals that have adorned the facade of Para Los Niños for more than four years, further strengthening the artistic and cultural identity that defines our organization and the community we serve.
As part of this artistic effort, a new mural created by Carlos Martínez will also be unveiled on the PLN building. The artwork will become part of the City of Burien’s public art and tourism program in partnership with Urban ArtWorks, an initiative dedicated to strengthening community identity and promoting art in public spaces.
Carlos Martínez is a Seattle-based artist whose work explores identity, community, and human connection through muralism and contemporary painting. His artwork has been exhibited at institutions including the Tacoma Art Museum and the Mexican Cultural Center, and is part of the permanent collection of the Seattle Convention Center.
The artists will begin bringing their visions to life over the coming months, and we will share progress updates on each mural in the weeks ahead leading up to the grand opening of the Outdoor Art Gallery—an event designed to bring together community members, artists, and visitors in a celebration of art and culture.
The grand opening will take place on Wednesday, August 27, from 5:00 to 8:00 PM at the PLN Offices.
