We hope you are thriving in your current endeavors🌟 We are thrilled to share the exciting news of the resounding success of our Para los Niños Summer Camps! 🏕️ This year’s camps were filled with fun, laughter, and incredible learning experiences for approximately 80 children at Hazel Valley Elementary. Our young campers had a blast engaging in a variety of recreational activities, as well as learning about the captivating history of South America as they explored their creativity through traditional arts and crafts.🎨 Valuable life lessons were also learned through numerous outdoor sports activities, discovering the importance of teamwork and cooperation. 🤝Fridays were extra special as we embarked on thrilling field trips to local gems like the Aquarium and Pacific Science Center, allowing our campers to expand their horizons and experience new wonders. 🐠🦑🌿

Meanwhile, our High Schoolers Summer Camp was in full throttle, offering epic hikes, inspiring art workshops, and sports training at Lakeview Memorial Park. 🏞️ The campers had a blast on awesome field trips, which included go-karting and visiting the MoPOP Museum, immersing themselves in enriching experiences.

¡Estamos encantados de compartir la emocionante noticia del rotundo éxito de nuestros Campamentos de Verano Para los Niños! 🏕️ Los campamentos de este año estuvieron llenos de diversión, risas e increíbles experiencias de aprendizaje para aproximadamente 80 niños en Hazel Valley Elementary.

Welcome back to the virtual unveiling of our 4 new murals. We invite you to come and visit our new murals (3 of them are outside our offices and can be viewed at any time). Art is of great importance to our community and this summer we have been able to create captivating murals at our Para Los Niños office. Our fourth and final virtual unveil is by Edith Mejía, Elmer Ruiz, Erica Refugio Martínez, Kevin Ocampo Michelle Delgado, Sakina Idares-ha, Vanessa Delgado-Alvarez – With support from Amaranta Ibarra-Sandys.
About the Mural and Artist:
Thanks to 4 Culture, Para Los Niños invited local artist Amaranta Ibrra-Sandys to work with our PLN Latinx Youth participants on a mural art project. The mural project consisted of a 3 part series in-person and via Zoom.

Gracias a 4 Culture tuvimos la oportunidad de invitar a la artista local Amaranta Ibrra-Sandys a trabajar con los participantes de nuestro Programa de jóvenes Latinx, en un proyecto de arte mural.

About the Mural and Artist:
Raquel García Martínez was born and raised in the border town of Tijuana Baja California, Mexico.Exposure to the beautiful indigenous and regional art styles from all over the country was an important factor in her love for painting.
Raquel is a self-taught painter who enjoys portraying her culture through bright and folkloric decorative shadow boxes also known as “Nichos.” She has a special interest in utilizing recycled materials as well as rescued or repurposed wooden items and furniture. Her main medium is acrylic paint however Raquel is also an avid sketch artist with pencil and graphite.

Raquel García Martínez nació y crecio en la ciudad fronteriza de Tijuana Baja California, México. La exposición a los hermosos estilos artísticos indígenas y regionales de todo el país fue un factor importante en su amor por la pintura.
Raquel es una pintora autodidacta que disfruta retratar su cultura a través de cajas de sombras decorativas brillantes y folclóricas, también conocidas como “Nichos”. Tiene un interés especial en utilizar materiales reciclados, así como en muebles y artículos de madera rescatados o reutilizados. Su medio principal es la pintura acrílica, sin embargo, Raquel también es una ávida dibujante con lápiz y grafito.
